BOLD ´Speak Out´ Vinyl LP
BOLD ´Speak Out´ LP
Revelation Records
Speak Out, originally released in 1988, has been remastered, pressed on color vinyl, and includes a bonus 40-page, full-color booklet curated by the band. The album has been returned to its original gatefold layout, with an added embossing on the cover.
John Scharbach describes the design process for the booklet: “Speak Out has always sounded perfect to me, so I was excited for the remaster and the opportunity to create a booklet for BOLD. I tried several concepts but ultimately chose a scrapbook-style layout—no text or anecdotes, just visuals telling the story. I spoke to Zulu and got a collection of memorabilia from him. He kept a scrapbook full of flyers, photos, stickers, backstage passes, etc., and I wanted the booklet to reflect that. Zulu shared some great stories too, like when BOLD came on stage at the Anthrax to the theme from Conan the Barbarian because Drew and he were big fans of the soundtrack. Drew was also a huge advocate for the gatefold layout in 1988, wanting each band member showcased in quadrants modeled after the KISS Dynasty album cover. Zulu also shared the story of Jordan showing up to a gig with a multi-page report titled ‘Why BOLD should go with Revelation,’ even though they had already signed with Wishingwell. I’ve always dreamed of a BOLD 4-sided shirt designed with Longrie and Dubar’s direction. This record has been extremely important to me since it first entered my life as a youth, and I’ve spent hours obsessing over it with all my DC hardcore family. It’s a great honor to have created this booklet".
