Compiled in 1985, “Bonus Fat” brings together some of the earliest recordings by Descendents from a crucial stage in the band’s development. The collection includes their 1980 debut single, the 1981 “Fat” EP, and the outtake “Global Probing.”
The release documents the band’s transition from a breezy, surf-tinged power-pop sound toward the faster and more aggressive hardcore style already taking shape on the “Fat” EP.
Originally released through New Alliance Records, these early tracks laid the groundwork for the landmark debut full-length that would help define the Descendents’ legacy.
