Farside, a hardcore punk band from Orange County, CA, was formed in 1989. Their unique sound combined late-'80s post-hardcore influences like Dag Nasty, Hüsker Dü, and the Descendents, with '90s alternative metal styles inspired by Helmet and Quicksand, alongside the power-pop sensibilities of the late '70s reminiscent of Elvis Costello. This eclectic mix often made them a misfit on many lineups. The Monroe Doctrine, their final album, marked the culmination of a decade of evolution, showcasing a diverse blend of punk, post-punk, indie, and pop melodies.
