Surrounded by shuddering industrial textures, grimy hip-hop beatcraft, and cathartic screams, Jarhead Fertilizer unleash a devastating fusion of death metal, powerviolence, and extreme hardcore on their 2023 full-length “Carceral Warfare.” It’s chaotic, punishing, and unexpectedly catchy.

At its core, the album tells a harrowing story of an eternal struggle inside a celestial prison, inspired by the life and experiences of drummer/vocalist Dave Bland’s late father, an ex-convict. The lyrics draw parallels between earth and incarceration, confronting humanity’s violence, suffering, and systemic brutality with unfiltered honesty.

Following acclaimed EPs and the underground breakthrough “Product of My Environment” (2021), which surpassed one million streams and earned an 8/10 from Metal Injection, Carceral Warfare solidifies Jarhead Fertilizer as one of the most uncompromising acts in extreme music today. Recorded in 2023 at Developing Nations with producer Kevin Bernstein, the album pulls from influences ranging from Mortal Decay, Demilich, and Lucifer’s Hammer to Three 6 Mafia, Techno Animal, The Prodigy, and jazz legends Billy Cobham and Tony Williams.

The vinyl edition is housed in a matte LP jacket with UV spot varnish and includes a 12-page lyric booklet.
