PORTRAYAL OF GUILT – ...Beginning of the End (Colored Vinyl) [LP]

“…Beginning Of The End” marks the latest evolution of Portrayal Of Guilt, one of the most innovative bands in modern hardcore and extreme music. Since forming in Austin, Texas less than a decade ago, the trio has built a reputation for constant reinvention, crafting a sound that merges hardcore, black metal, screamo, and experimental textures.
Their debut album “Let Pain Be Your Guide” immediately turned heads in underground circles with its nihilistic hardcore and blackened intensity. Follow-up releases “We Are Always Alone” and “Christf*cker” expanded their sonic palette with elements of industrial, post-metal, sludge, and post-hardcore, cementing the band’s fearless experimental spirit. Along the way, Portrayal Of Guilt even explored classical composition with the “Devil Music” EP and ventured into EBM and goth territory on “Christf*cker II.”
Clocking in at roughly 32 minutes across eleven tracks, “…Beginning Of The End” was recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom between March and June 2025, with mastering handled by Will Yip. The album blends crushing hardcore intensity with avant-garde exploration, incorporating influences from nu metal, alternative rock, trip hop, and dark ambient.
The result is a dense, dynamic release that feels like the culmination of the band’s creative journey so far. Drawing comparisons to artists such as Deftones, Massive Attack, Dystopia, Deathspell Omega, Celtic Frost, and Cursed, the record captures Portrayal Of Guilt at their most expansive and uncompromising.
“…Beginning Of The End,” set for release on April 24, is the band’s fourth studio album in eight years and their third with Run For Cover Records. Known for their relentless touring schedule, Portrayal Of Guilt will once again bring these songs to stages worldwide.
