Dresden does not get enough credit. Tucked in the east of Germany, far from the usual epicenters of hardcore, a city quietly produced one of the most important bands in modern European hardcore. RISK IT! have been proving that geography is no barrier to conviction since 2009, and in 2025, they are about to remind the entire world exactly who they are.
Formed in Dresden over fifteen years ago, RISK IT! built their identity the hard way. No shortcuts, no major backing, no industry favors. Just relentless touring, high-energy performances, and a sound rooted in the traditions that made hardcore matter in the first place. Influenced by the sounds of Madball, Terror, and Backtrack and creating something that felt both familiar and entirely their own. Fast, aggressive, grooved-out, with anthemic choruses that stick long after the set is over. From their earliest releases through "Who's Fooling Who?" in 2013 and "Cross to Bear" in 2016, RISK IT! refined their sound without ever losing the rawness that made people pay attention in the first place. Lyrically, the band has always stayed true to the core values of the culture: personal integrity, loyalty, perseverance, and the kind of honesty that does not require an apology.
Their live reputation spread fast. Across Europe, into Asia, and across North America, RISK IT! built a following not through algorithms but through rooms packed with people losing their minds.
Now, the next chapter begins in a serious way. RISK IT! have signed to Los Angeles based WAR Records, owned by Andrew Kline of Strife and Berthold City, and this fall they will release their most important record to date. Mercy for None was produced by Nick Jett of Terror and Rene Natzel, known for his work in True Blue and World Collapse. Drawing on their classic hardcore foundation while pushing into darker, heavier territory influenced by bands like Bitter End and No Warning, Mercy for None is harder, sharper, and more focused than anything they have recorded before. The record also features guest vocals from three heavyweights of the genre: Scott Vogel of Terror, Gary Gunwald of Naysayer, and Till Justus Borner of Slow Burn. Each appearance feels earned, not decorative. This is a record built by people who understand exactly what hardcore is supposed to do to you.
RISK IT! have spent fifteen years earning their place in this scene. Mercy for None is the moment they claim it.
