When guitarist Matt Fox first started Shai Hulud, he never imagined the band would grow beyond a demo tape or a single 7" release. Instead, Shai Hulud went on to become one of the most influential bands in hardcore and metalcore history.
“A Profound Hatred Of Man” laid the foundation for the band’s signature style: technically driven hardcore combined with emotionally intense metalcore. Featuring complex arrangements, aggressive riffs, and deeply personal lyrics, the release helped shape the entire metalcore movement that followed.
Beyond their musical innovation, Shai Hulud became known for their thought-provoking and introspective lyrics, offering fans inspiration and strength through life’s hardships. Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, the band continued touring internationally and performing alongside some of the biggest names in hardcore.
