In 1988, as the youth-crew movement surged, Slapshot emerged from Boston, MA, with a sound and attitude that stood apart. Fronted by Choke, known from Negative FX and Last Rites, the band embraced straight-edge ideals but gave them a darker, grittier edge compared to the scenes in New York and Connecticut. With a distinctly punk-influenced sound, Step On It marked the debut LP from this now-legendary band.
