THE NERVE AGENTS – Self-Titled: Deluxe Edition (Colored Vinyl) [LP]

Emerging from the late-’90s Bay Area hardcore scene, The Nerve Agents brought together vocalist Eric Ozenne (formerly of Unit Pride and Redemption 87) with Tim Presley and Andy Granelli of Model American. The result was a sound that paid homage to early hardcore punk legends like Youth of Today, Circle Jerks, 7 Seconds, and Agnostic Front while infusing the band’s unique personalities and experiences. Ozenne’s military service deeply influenced their art and lyrics, vividly addressing the horrors of chemical warfare.

This eight-song EP became the catalyst for The Nerve Agents’ rapid rise in the West Coast hardcore and punk underground. Playing alongside bands like Tiger Army and The Distillers (where drummer Andy Granelli eventually became a full-time member), The Nerve Agents solidified their place in the scene.

Released through Revelation Records, the EP was a perfect fit for the label’s late-1990s return to the fast-paced hardcore sound they helped define a decade earlier with bands like In My Eyes, Where Fear and Weapons Meet, and Better Than a Thousand.

This new pressing marks the first vinyl release since 2014. It features a full-color obi strip and an eight-page booklet with lyrics, expanded artwork, flyers, and writings from scene luminaries and fans, showcasing the deep impact The Nerve Agents had on their community.
